The Prophet of Shirk Strikes Yet Again!

The Quran claims that there has never been a messenger/apostle or a prophet that Satan hasn’t deceived into reciting his words in order to mislead people:

Never did We send a Messenger or a Prophet before you, but when he did recite the revelation or narrated or spoke, Shaitan (Satan) threw (some falsehood) in it. But Allah abolishes that which Shaitan (Satan) throws in. Then Allah establishes His Revelations. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise: That He (Allah) may make what is thrown in by Shaitan (Satan) a trial for those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy and disbelief) and whose hearts are hardened. And certainly, the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) are in an opposition far-off (from the truth against Allah's Messenger and the believers). S. 22:52-53 Hilali-Khan

According to the Islamic tradition, these verses were “revealed” to comfort Muhammad for being inspired by the devil to praise the three pagan goddesses of the Meccans, an event known as the “Satanic Verses”:

And We did not send before you any messenger rasūl — this is a prophet who has been commanded to deliver a Message — or prophet nabī — one who has not been commanded to deliver anything — but that when he recited the scripture Satan cast into his recitation what is not from the Qur’ān but which those to whom he the prophet had been sent would find pleasing. The Prophet had during an assembly of the men of Quraysh after reciting the following verses from sūrat al-Najm Have you considered Lāt and ‘Uzzā? And Manāt the third one? 5319-20 added as a result of Satan casting them onto his tongue without his the Prophet’s being aware of it the following words ‘those are the high-flying cranes al-gharānīq al-‘ulā and indeed their intercession is to be hoped for’ and so they the men of Quraysh were thereby delighted. Gabriel however later informed him the Prophet of this that Satan had cast onto his tongue and he was grieved by it; but was subsequently comforted with this following verse that he might be reassured of God’s pleasure thereat God abrogates nullifies whatever Satan had cast then God confirms His revelations. And God is Knower of Satan’s casting of that which has been mentioned Wise in His enabling him Satan to do such things for He does whatever He will. (Tafsir al-Jalalayn: https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=74&tSoraNo=22&tAyahNo=52&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2; emphasis mine)

That He may make what Satan has cast a trial a test for those in whose hearts is a sickness dissension and hypocrisy and those whose hearts are hardened namely the idolaters hardened against acceptance of the truth. For truly the evildoers the disbelievers are steeped in extreme defiance in a protracted feud with the Prophet and the believers for his tongue uttered mention of their gods in a way that pleased them and yet this was later nullified. (Ibid: https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=74&tSoraNo=22&tAyahNo=53&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2; emphasis mine)

And:

(Never sent We a messenger or a prophet before thee…) [22:52]. The commentators of the Qur'an said: “When the Messenger of Allah saw that his people were shunning him, he was aggrieved by their rejection of the message he brought them and he secretly wished that Allah, exalted is He, reveals something to him which would bring him and his people closer to each other, keen as he was to see them accept faith. One day, he sat in one of the congregations of Quraysh which attracted a huge number of its members, and he wished that Allah, exalted is He, does not reveal to him on that day anything that might repel them from him. Allah, exalted is He, revealed to him then Surah al-Najm (By the star when it stetteth…) [Surah 53]. The Messenger of Allah recited it but when he reached (Have ye thought upon al-Lat and al-'Uzza, and Manat, the third, the other) [53:19-20], the devil put on his tongue what he had secretly wished and hoped for and said: 'These are the mighty cranes (gharaniq) and their intercession is hoped for'. When the Quraysh heard this, they were very pleased. The Messenger of Allah carried on reciting until the end of the Surah and then prostrated. All the Muslims followed suit and prostrated, and all the idolaters who were present prostrated too. All those who were present, whether Muslim or disbeliever, prostrated except al-Walid ibn al-Mughirah and Abu Uhyahah Sa'id ibn al-'As who were too advanced in age and could not prostrate, but they both grabbed a handful of dust and put their foreheads on it. The Quraysh then dispersed, happy with what they heard. They said: 'Muhammad has mentioned our idols with complimentary terms. We know that Allah gives life and takes it away, He creates and provides sustenance, but these idols of ours will intercede for us with Him. Now that Muhammad has associated them, we are all with him'. That evening, Gabriel went to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'What have you done? You recited to people that which I did not bring from Allah, and you said what I did not say to you'. ('Alī ibn Ahmad al-Wahidi, Asbab al-Nuzul: https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=86&tSoraNo=22&tAyahNo=52&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2; emphasis mine)

Suffice it to say, this is a huge embarrassment to the credibility of Muhammad since no true prophet and apostle of God was ever duped into confusing Satan and his messages with God and his revelations.

After all, if Muhammad couldn’t differentiate the words of the devil from the words of his lord, then a Muslim has no way of knowing with absolute certainty that their prophet wasn’t actually deceived into thinking that the rest of the message came from Allah through Gabriel, when in reality this was simply another layer to the satanic deception.

In other words, what guarantee do Muslims have that Satan didn’t appear as Gabriel to Muhammad from the get-go, and later on inspired him to recite verses praising the pagan goddesses only to then appear as Gabriel once again to rebuke him, in order to keep Muhammad off his scent. What better way to deceive Muhammad from realizing that it was Satan all along who had been inspiring him to deceive people into following him to their eternal shame and destruction?

The fact is that this episode of the “Satanic Verses” merely proves Muhammad was a fraud who was being used of the devil to mislead mankind into thinking he was a messenger sent from God.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, these texts which were allegedly “sent down” in light of Satan inspiring his servant Muhammad introduces another huge blunder.

As I indicated earlier, there is no evidence either from the Holy Bible or the Quran that any true prophet or messenger was ever deceived into proclaiming the words of the devil. In fact, there is overwhelming refuting this lie.

For instance, God’s true Word is emphatically clear that Satan had no power or influence over Christ whatsoever, who easily overcame all that the devil threw at him:

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry afterward. The tempter came and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.’ But he answered, ‘It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.”’

“Then the devil took him into the holy city. He set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “He will command his angels concerning you,” and, “On their hands they will bear you up, so that you don’t dash your foot against a stone.”’ Jesus said to him, ‘Again, it is written, “You shall not test the Lord, your God.”’

“Again, the devil took him to an exceedingly high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. He said to him, ‘I will give you all of these things, if you will fall down and worship me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.”’ Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.” Matthew 4:1-11

“Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out. And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” John 12:31-32

“I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me.” John 14:30

“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” Hebrews 2:14-15

“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

The Quran itself attests that Satan failed to come up against both Jesus and his holy mother, who were divinely protected from ever being tainted or corrupted by the enemy:

(Remember) when the wife of 'Imran said: My Lord! I have vowed unto Thee that which is in my belly as a consecrated (offering). Accept it from me. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Hearer, the Knower! And when she was delivered she said: My Lord! Lo! I am delivered of a female - Allah knew best of what she was delivered - the male is not as the female; and lo! I have named her Mary, and lo! I crave Thy protection for her and for her offspring from Satan the outcast. S. 3:35-36 Pickthall

Here's the way in which Muhammad and his followers interpreted the above passage:

And when she gave birth to her a girl and she had been hoping for a boy since only males were consecrated to the service of God she said apologetically ‘O Lord I have given birth to a female’ — and God knew very well what she had given birth to a parenthetical statement constituting God’s speech a variant reading for wada‘at ‘she gave birth’ has wada‘tu ‘I gave birth’ making these Hanna’s words sc. ‘and God knows very well what I have given birth to’; the male that she had asked for is not as the female that was bestowed upon her because he is designed for the service of God while she would not be suitable on account of her lesser physical ability her private parts the effects of menstruation on her and so on. ‘And I have named her Mary and commend her to You with her seed her children to protect them from the accursed the outcast Satan’. In a hadīth it is stated ‘Every new-born is touched by Satan and begins life by crying except for Mary and her son’ as reported by the two Shaykhs Bukhārī and Muslim. (Tafsir al-Jalalayn: https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=74&tSoraNo=3&tAyahNo=36&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2; emphasis mine)

Allah's statement that Maryam's mother said…

(“… And I seek refuge with You for her and for her offspring from Shaytan, the outcast.”) means, that she sought refuge with Allah from the evil of Shaytan, for her and her offspring, i.e., `Isa. Allah accepted her supplication, for `Abdur-Razzaq recorded that Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger of Allah said…

(Every newly born baby is touched by Shaytan when it is born, and the baby starts crying because of this touch, except Maryam and her son.)

Abu Hurayrah then said, "Read if you will…

(And I seek refuge with You for her and for her offspring from Shaytan, the outcast).” The Two Sahihs recorded this Hadith. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir: https://www.alim.org/quran/tafsir/ibn-kathir/surah/3/35/; emphasis mine)

LX: "I placed her and her children in Your safekeeping from the Accursed Shaytan." (3:36)

4274. It is related from Abu Hurayra that the Prophet said, "There is no child born but that Shaytan touches him when he is born and he lets out a cry because shaytan has touched him - except for Maryam and her son." Then Abu Hurayra Said, "Recite if you wish, 'I placed her and her children in Your safekeeping from the Accursed Shaytan.' (3:36)". (Aisha Bewley, The Sahih Collection of al-Bukhari, Chapter 68. Book of Tafsir: https://aishabewley.netlify.app/bukhari30: emphasis mine)

Notice that Muhammad himself stated that the only two human beings whom Satan was unable to touch, and therefore corrupt, were Mary and her glorious Son. This means that the devil was able to touch and pollute Muhammad from his birth, which explains why the Islamic sources themselves highlight how immoral and evil he truly was.

Nonetheless, this places Muslims in a dilemma. If Muhammad was right that ALL messengers and prophets have been influenced and inspired by Satan, then this means that Jesus cannot be a messenger and/or prophet. According to Muhammad’s logic, Jesus and his mother must be greater than all messengers and prophets, in fact greater than all human creatures. Therefore, Jesus and his mother are either angelic beings or must be divine in nature.

I sum up the problem with Muhammad’s assertions in order to challenge any Muslim to provide an honest, consistent reply:

  1. Every messenger and prophet has been inspired by Satan at some point in his/her ministry.

  2. Every human being has been tainted by Satan’s touch upon his/her birth.

  3. Jesus and his mother have never been touched by the devil.

  4. Nor has Jesus ever been deceived by the devil to recite his revelations, unlike Muhammad.

  5. Therefore, neither Jesus nor his mother are mere human creatures, but must be much more, and are therefore greater than all human beings.
